About

b. 1986, HK.

Ky Chevalier is a designer, communicator, occasional roller derby referee, and local enigma based in Burlington, Vermont. Currently, Ky is a Graphic Designer at ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain and freelance designer for Burlington area clients.

Formerly, Ky crafted multimedia graphics and wrangled webpages as Multimedia Design Intern at the University of Vermont’s Gund Institute for Environment, a research institution that brings together scientists, students, and leaders to solve the world’s critical environmental issues. Ky has also worked as Layout Editor at The Vermont Cynic and newsletter intern at the Center for Research on Vermont, and has partnered with the National Food Access and COVID Research Team, Vanish Works, and the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District.

As an undergraduate at the University of Vermont, Ky completed novel research interrogating the role of the female body in horror video games, earning a Distinguished Undergraduate Research Award and Student Research Conference Competitive Session Award.

In 2022, Ky completed their Master’s of Art (MA) in Graphic Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Their thesis exhibition, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables, critically examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the visual language of tabletop roleplay games.

When Ky is not in the studio, they can be found petting dogs, roller skating, or playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Ky's favorite typeface is Gorgias by PampaType and their favorite person is their dog, Kito.
